Richmond Symphony Receives $500,000 Challenge Grant

The Richmond Symphony has received a challenge grant of $500,000, which will be awarded only if the symphony can raise the same amount within one year.

The clock has started ticking after 24th May, the announcement was already made. The  Richmond symphony has to raise the money as a new or as an increased financial support from the Richmond community.

The challenge grant is funded by the Cabell Foundation, a private entity which financially supports the Virginia’s cultural arts, historic sites, environment initiatives, higher education and also community development.

“We are honored by the Cabell Foundation’s continued belief in the symphony’s work and long-standing commitment to our shared Richmond community.The foundation and its trustees have been ardent supporters throughout the history of the organization,” said the Richmond Symphony Executive Director David Fisk, in a news release.

The money raised through the challenge grant challenge is intended to help the fund special projects during the Richmond symphony’s 60th anniversary season as well as the initiatives associated with the symphony’s strategic plan, as per the news release.
