Skoda introduced the Kylaq SUV in November 2025, and the company is now looking to provide an additional powertrain choice specifically for customers in India. Skoda India has expressed a keen interest in exploring the feasibility of integrating CNG capabilities with the turbo engines currently found in their vehicles. As of now, no specific timeline has been revealed for the introduction of CNG variants, as planning and development efforts are still ongoing. Nevertheless, this transition may not pose significant challenges for the Czech automaker, given that a CNG powertrain is already part of the internationally sold Octavia, Scala, and Citigo hatchbacks. Furthermore, Skoda is not alone in its efforts, as the Tata Nexon has already launched a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine alongside a CNG option. Other sub-4 meter SUVs that also provide CNG alternatives include the Maruti Suzuki Fronx, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Toyota Taisor, Nissan Magnite, and Renault Kiger. It remains to be seen if Skoda will present the CNG powertrain either as a standard feature or as an OEM-endorsed kit through dealers.
The existing Kylaq models are equipped with a 1.0-liter turbo petrol engine that works in tandem with a 6-speed transmission, available in both manual and automatic options. This setup generates a maximum power output of 115 hp and a torque of 178 Nm. In the Indian market, the SUV is offered in four primary variants: Classic, Signature, Signature Plus, and Prestige. Skoda has also made available a selection of seven colors for the Kylaq, including Olive Gold, Lava Blue, Tornado Red, Carbon Steel, Brilliant Silver, Candy White, and Deep Pearl Black. The starting price for the Skoda Kylaq is set at Rs 7.89 lakh (ex-showroom), positioning it as the most budget-friendly SUV from the brand in India.
