US warns about possible al Qaeda attacks in New York, Texas, Virginia

The local authorities in Virginia, Houston and New York have been warned by the United States  intelligence officials regarding possible attacks by al Qaeda on Monday, a day ahead of the US presidential polls.

CBS reported, the US intelligence officials alerted accompanied with terrorism task forces regarding the possible threat, however, no specific locations were mentioned.

A senior FBI official said that, "The FBI, working with our federal, state and local counterparts, shares and assesses intelligence on a daily basis and will continue to work closely with law enforcement and intelligence community partners to identify and disrupt any potential threat to public safety.”  

The US Department of Homeland Security officials did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

On the other hand, local authorities in Arizona, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Ohio and Florida said, they were not enhancing poll-related law enforcement personnel or resources above 2012 levels.

The White House race between the Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton and the Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump is neck to neck, a few days before the election day, November 8.
